Our Initiatives

The FOC supports City of Chattanooga’s Outdoor Chattanooga division in its mission to make outdoor recreation an attractive, healthy, and distinguishing lifestyle for Chattanooga’s residents and visitor population. In turn, this will maintain and enhance the value of the region’s natural and built resources, and help grow the region’s economy.

Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga, Inc., was incorporated in December 2007, and designated by the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Specifically, Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga works to preserve, protect and promote outdoor recreation opportunities through education, activities and events.

Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga are representative and inclusive of the many and diverse stakeholders who comprise the region’s outdoor recreation system. We are a leadership organization for the region, fulfilling our goals with an operating style that is primarily facilitation-helping build the capacity of our component stakeholders (e.g. outdoor recreation enthusiasts and their clubs, landowners, businesses related to outdoor recreation, natural resource conservationists, related civic organizations and government agencies, etc); and, when necessary, programmatic — directly implementing programs and services for specific needs and constituents.

Got A Question?

Email us below using the contact form.  We will do our best to respond in a timely manner.

Can I deduct my donation off my taxes?

Absolutely! We are a registered 501(c)3 organization therefore allowing tax-deductible donations.

How much are you trying to raise for Outdoor Chattanooga?

No amount is too much or too little in the face of a greater cause.  However, each year we work closely with the OC leadership and citizens to determine key initiatives that can be supported.

If I donate or volunteer will you teach me to kayak?

You never know…rumor has it that those who contribute to “baking the bread” often find themselves enjoying the fruits of their labor.  Rest assured, we aim to make the volunteer experience an enjoyable one, often giving a “behind the scene” look at what makes Outdoor Chattanooga great!
