After discussing the Vision Board from the December 2019 Outdoor Initiatives event, we moved to brainstorming ideas to bring to life the community’s vision. As a committee, our goal is to pool our resources to assist Calvin Donaldson Elementary’s master plan to add to their environmental sciences program. If you would like to join the Education sub-committee, please reach out to the leaders and/or join our next meeting April 23rd at 2pm at Heaven & Ale Brewery!

Health & Wellbeing

Seven attendees were present at the 1st quarterly Health & Wellbeing sub-committee meeting on January 22, 2019 at Heaven & Ale Brewery off Cherokee Blvd. Companies represented include Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga, Erlanger, REI, Chattanooga Paddleboards, Touch of Therapy and City of Collegedale – Parks. We began by defining what Health and Wellbeing looks like in our community, to identify areas of greatest need and who we can reach out to. Ultimately, the group focused on creating a “Prescription Partners” program to work with physicians prescribing specific outdoor activities to their patients, recognizing a need for more comprehensive outdoor-related information and marketing to the public (e.g. a website), greater public exposure to outdoor activities (e.g. hands-on programming, expos/demos) and finally, looking beyond simply providing people with access, but also truly connecting with non-traditional demographics and cultures. If you would like to join the Health & Wellbeing sub-committee, please reach out to the leaders and/or join our next meeting April 23rd at 2pm at The Tap House in St. Elmo!
